Brett Winkeler, MD

Diplomat of American Board of Family Practice

I grew up locally in New Baden. I attended undergrad at Quincy University where I met my wife, Jennifer. After medical school at the University of Illinois at Rockford, I went to Spartanburg Regional Hospital in Spartanburg, SC for my residency where I served as chief resident. In 2008 I came to work at Rural Family Medicine. I have a special interest in treating sports injuries but enjoy treating patients of all ages.

The addition of Rural Family Direct Care is very exciting. It allows us to practice medicine in a way which we thought we would when we started. Patients’ needs have taken a back seat to insurance regulations recently and Rural Family Direct Care allows the patient to once again become the focus of medicine.

On a personal note…

I reside in Smithton with my wife and two children, Sophie and Alex. In my time away from work I am an avid golfer, volunteer coaching local sports teams and look forward once again to be on the sideline of FCHS home football games.
